We are in the midst of a unique time in our world and in our Church. Our lives have all been upended and there is much that is being asked of parents everywhere. While your busy schedules of pick-ups, drop-offs, sports schedules, etc. have all come to a crashing halt you have now been handed the task of learning how to homeschool and guide your teens through distance learning — on top of also working your job or figuring out what to do in the midst of losing a job or increased hours due to new demands.
We are now also faced with a new reality of Masses no longer being held publically and are looking at what we can do to keep your families and your teens connected to your Church community. Nothing about this new “normal” is easy, but here at Life Teen, we are dedicated to supporting you with innovative tools to help you accompany your teens and family through it all.
We believe that when a teenager encounters Jesus through the beauty of our Catholic faith they transform their parishes, community, and even our culture. We believe that can happen at any time and under any circumstances. Including this time and these circumstances. Our teenagers are in need of hope, healing, and belonging. We are a part of a movement, the Life Teen movement, that can help them find what they are seeking.
If your teen currently attends a Life Teen parish we working tirelessly to equip their youth minister to continue their ministry on digital platforms, so be sure to reach out to your parish and youth minister for more information on what they will be offering for your teens.
If you are not able to connect your teen with your local parish youth ministry program, we are still providing an abundance of free resources that you can connect your teen to over these next weeks.
Global Life Night Experience
Beginning next Sunday, March 29th, we will be hosting a series of global Life Night experiences on YouTube.
These 30-minute sessions will feature speakers, musicians, and a live host to engage with the community on YouTube. We will begin our first series looking at the theological virtues. These weekly meetings will happen live at 5:00 PM ET and will remain live on our YouTube channel for viewing afterward.
The Summit Movement
We are launching a website dedicated to bringing you, your families, and your teens resources to engage in the liturgy when we are not able to attend public Mass. This website is our gift to the Church – anyone can access it, so share the link. These resources are designed to help us dive into God’s words and include two new modifications to our Summit lectionary-based discipleship group.
Summit for Families
These weekly sessions are designed to be done as a family and are written in English and Spanish to be facilitated by parents for teenagers and included adaptions for younger children, as well.
Teen-led Summit
We want to form teenagers to be disciples and evangelists, and this version of Summit is written for teens to do peer-facilitation. Empower your teens to gather their friends digitally to reflect on God’s word every week.
Summit Small Groups
Our traditional, mainstay Summit guide for adult leaders and youth ministers with activities and questions for small group discussions and ministry.
The Summit Movement website also includes links to Mark Hart’s “Sunday, Sunday, Sunday” podcast, excerpts from our “Ascend: A Companion to the Sunday Readings,” a link to the Summit weekly teaching video and our weekly live-streamed digital small group, walking and praying through the Mass readings, “Lectio Live” – which happens every Wednesday at 6:00 PM ET.
Digital Evangelization for Teens
Invite your teens to follow our social media accounts as we will be ramping up content for daily spiritual exercises on Instagram with daily notes of hope and encouragement, reflections, and spotlight on teen voices.
Our YouTube channel will continue to feature great content weekly for teens to engage with and learn from, so make sure your teens subscribe to stay connected.
