Once upon a time, this is how we began to go deeper putting Jesus as the center of our marriage:
“Joe, St Mary’s Lifeteen really could use some help at Camp Christopher next weekend putting meals together for the kids, and we could go use that gift certificate for the steakhouse after we are done.”
The only word I heard at the time was steakhouse as I had been begging her to use that gift certificate for months to get a big juicy ribeye and those monster-sized onion rings. The meal ordered will assuredly get “the look” from the dietitian I married.
Keeping Jesus in our marriage means being in community with other holy marriages, other great Catholics and teaching teenagers what we most need to learn.
